About the project
Black women face a devastating reality, being three times more likely to die from pregnancy-related causes than white women. The S.1606 Momnibus Act, a crucial piece of maternal health legislation, has stalled in Congress for over 11 months. The animated short film "Impossible Journey" poignantly illustrates this disparity through the contrasting journeys of two storks, highlighting the urgent need for action. The film was painstakingly crafted using 3,200 hand-painted frames and was shared with US Congress members during Black Maternal Health Week, urging them to support the Momnibus Act.
We created a design system to generate unique logos for every known rare disease—more than 5,000. Each logo was crafted to give visibility to conditions that often go unnoticed, offering patients a symbol they can identify with. These visual identities help foster a sense of belonging, representation, and community among those who are often left without one.
